The Class of 1960s Scholars in Art are pleased to welcome Slikback on May 14th at 1 p.m. EST for a virtual artist talk followed by a Q & A. Slikback (real name: Freddy M Njau) is an experimental producer from Nairobi, Kenya who uses the experimental eclecticism of referents in breaks, drum ‘n bass, reguetón and kuduro rhythms with genres such as grime or trap. Recently he has released two collaborative ep’s with svbkvlt artists such as hyph11e, 33emybw and Yen Tech. His most recent releases are a 2 part 60 track album called /// and ///II–a collage of all emotions captured through sound. Slikback takes such modern genres and fuses them with traditional East African rhythmic patterns and regional styles. His music has been described as “hyperactivity and postmodern crushing typical of the Internet era.”
