“Will Knotoids Solve All Our Problems? (Spoiler: Probably Not All.)” by Prof. Colin Adams, Williams College, Mathematics Faculty Seminar, Friday, February 10, 1 – 1:45 pm, North Science Building 015, Wachenheim Science Center.
Abstract: Knotoids are a generalization of knots where we allow endpoints. They have various uses, including modeling knotted proteins. We will discuss work from the SMALL knot theory group from last summer where we extend hyperbolicity to knotoids and generalize knotoids to include a wide variety of topological constructions.
