What’s Up with the Republican Party? A Historian’s View

Historian Geoffrey Kabaservice will share his thoughts on the recent evolution of the Republican Party. Political Science Professor James McAllister will provide an introduction and moderate the Q&A.
Geoffrey Kabaservice, Ph.D., VIce President of Political Studies at the Niskanen Center, is the author of Rule and Ruin: The Downfall of Moderation and the Destruction of the Republican Party, from Eisenhower to the Tea Party (Oxford 2012, a New York Times Notable Book of the Year.
He has also written for numerous national publications including the New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Politico, and The Guardian. Kabaservice has been a visiting assistant professor at Yale University, a program manager at the Advisory Board Company, a columnist for The New Republic, a visiting fellow at the Roosevelt House Public Policy Institute at Hunter College, and research director for the Republican Main Street Partnership. His research interests include politics, education, centrism and moderation, and the history of the Republican Party.
Kabaservice holds a B.A. in Political Science from Yale University, an M.Phil. in International Relations from Cambridge University, and a Ph.D. in History from Yale University.
