Visiting Artists: Third Space Performance Lab "To the Academy"

Please join us for an open rehearsal for To the Academy. Inspired by Kafka’s Short Story, “A Report for an Academy,” and the ancient Sanskrit treatise on performance, the Natyashastra, To the Academy explores the limits of identity politics and the business model of education. Third Space Performance Lab’s new multi-media play challenges its audiences with questions about the tiny world of academia and the big world around us.

Third Space Performance Lab was started by Marc Gomes and Shanti Pillai as a platform for exploring collaborative, multi-disciplinary performance. We provoke questions of gender, race, and hybridity by juxtaposing unexpected points of cultural reference. We are informed by scholarship and in turn, our performances seek both to delight and to inspire reflection.
