Topology of Random Simplical Complexes by Zhiqi Li ’19, Mathematics Senior Thesis Defense, Monday, May 13, 11:15 am, Stetson Court Classroom 105

Abstract:  Topological data analysis (TDA) is a branch in statistics and computational topology that studies topological features of high-dimensional data sets. In this talk, we will give an overview of the methods of TDA and examine the topological invariants of random simplicial complexes. In particular, we will explore the Euler characteristics and model the Betti numbers of random Vietoris-Rips complexes.
