William Finn (Williams ‘74) and James Lapine’s 1990 musical Falsettoland follows an unconventional family that learns to form a community. Set in 1981 in the aftermath of their divorce, Marvin and Trina (who has recently remarried to Marvin’s former psychiatrist, Mendel), handle their son Jason’s Bar Mitzvah preparations as Whizzer, Marvin’s ex-lover, reenters their lives. Alongside their lesbian neighbors, family dynamics fluctuate as the world around them shifts and they learn to depend on each other through change. At its heart, Falsettoland is the story of a found community of people who relinquish their societal norms and open themselves up to an unpredictable love.
An in-person waitlist will begin at 6 pm each evening in front of the Directing Studio. Empty seats will be filled before the start of each performance (including during intermission between presentations).
