The Spatial Dynamics of WNS by Jackson Barber '18

Mathematics Senior Thesis Defense

Abstract:  White Nose Syndrome (WNS) is an infectious disease epidemic impacting bats across North America. SIR-type models can tell us a great deal about the dynamics of WNS.  This thesis investigates, as part of a multi-year project, how human-implemented interventions could reduce bat mortality from WNS in a variety of single-population and multi-population scenarios. Come learn how applied mathematics can inform real-world conservation efforts!
