Despite Judas’s common perception as the “villain,” his motivation for betraying Jesus remains ambiguous. Williams College’s production of The Last Days of Judas Iscariot by Stephen Adly Guirgis will ask: who is worthy of forgiveness? Today, every single person is seeking justice, but no one’s definition of justice is quite the same. What place does forgiveness have in a landscape of justice that is so unstable? Why are some forgiven and others condemned? Guirgis’s play is a marvelous playground to tackle these questions and examine our ideas of love, justice, free will, and forgiveness.
