The Height of Irrationality by Jacob Lange ’21, Wednesday, October 21, 1:30 – 2:15 pm, Mathematics Colloquium, talk can be accessed through the Mathematics Colloquium Glow page
Abstract: This talk will introduce the concept of irrationality measure, then examine a proof of pi’s irrationality measure, and what that means in context, when compared to other irrationals of varying measure. Given how uncountable the reals are, pi’s irrationality measure is not as high as one might expect. A solid grasp of real analysis is recommended but not required.
