The Banach-Tarski Paradox by Michael DeGasperis ’23, Mathematics Colloquium, Monday, November 21, 1 – 1:45 pm, North Science Building 113, Wachenheim.
Abstract: Can you create something out of nothing? According to the Banach-Tarski paradox, given a sphere, there exist a decomposition of the sphere into a finite number of subsets which then can be put back together to yield two identical copies of the original ball.
