The Dance Department and the ’62 Center for Theatre and Dance are sponsoring FREE dance classes this summer, taught by artists-in-residence Erica Dankmeyer and Janine Parker. If you are interested, please read about the possibilities below and reply with your answers/comments/questions!
Children:
As part of the “Let’s Dance!” program, Janine will be offering a one-week session (9:00-11:15am) for children ages 9-11, July 8-12 — space is limited, so please make sure you can commit to the full week before signing a child up!
Teens/Adults: If you will be in the area for any part of the summer and would like to join us, here are a couple of possibilities:
- A one-week, Monday-Friday modern dance (mixed level) or ballet (beginner or intermediate/advanced)“intensive”, 2 hours each day (90 minute technique class and 30 minutes of repertoire, or composition or pointe, depending on the genre)
- One or two weeks of 2 classes per week in modern dance or ballet (or both!), 2 hours each day (90 minute technique class and 30 minutes of repertoire, or composition or pointe, depending on the genre)
POSSIBLE WEEKS:
One-week intensives or one or two classes/week in one or both genres:
June 3-7
June 10-14
June 24-28
July 8-12
July 15-19
July 22-26
Which option(s) are you interested in (one week intensive or 2 classes per week for one or two weeks), and which week(s) would you be able to commit to?
Which genre do you want to sign up for? (Or do you want to do both modern dance and one week of ballet?)
Is there a time of the day which you would NOT be available?
What is your previous experience in the genre(s) you’re interested in?
Please note: these are not meant to be “drop-in” classes; for planning, we need to know if there will be enough people for these classes to be held. If you are interested in these classes for yourself or a child/teen, please reply to Erica Dankmeyer and Janine Parker, artists in residence in the Dance Department at ead2@williams.edu and jmp2@williams.edu asap. Classes will be held in the beautiful dance studio in the ’62 Center for Theatre and Dance.
