SHORTS AND SCENES
A Collection of Short Scenes and New Plays In Progress
STUDIO’62 invites you to its first public performance on Saturday, July 14th at 7:30 PM in the CenterStage of the ’62 Center of Theatre and Dance: SHORTS AND SCENES. This upcoming showcase is the product of the first three weeks and the company’s collaboration with guest artists Margie Duffield (’85), Michael Izquierdo (’00), Mikaela Izquierdo, Betsy Aidem, and Jessica Hecht as well as our artistic producer Kevin O’Rourke (’78). Among other training exercises, each member of the company was tasked to devise an original one-act play and tackle at least one contemporary scene. The plays and scenes will be performed by the student members of the STUDIO’62 company: PETER DUKE ’21, SAMORI ETIENNE ’21, CAROLINE FAIRWEATHER ’20, NICOLE JONES ’21, JOHN MURPHY ’21, IBBY OUWELEEN ’21, LIAM OUWELEEN ’19, JACK ROMANS ’20, FIONA SELMI ’21 and JULIA TUCHER ’21.
Designed to foster deep learning alongside creative experimentation, Studio’62 provides students with an intensive, collaborative immersion in the art and practice of making theatre. The program consists of three major components: Masterclasses with professional artists, educators, and Williams College alumni; collaborative workshops with visiting artists; and independent projects overseen by the Studio’62’s artistic program director. Structured to support and promote each individual student’s development and growth as a creative artist and maker, Studio’62 provides its participants with a rare and unique opportunity to explore what it’s like to commit oneself fully to the art form of theatre.
The readings on Saturday July 14th at 7:30pm are open to the public and admission is free. Please make reservations by calling 413-597-2758, or emailing email@example.com.
