2005 Berkshire Symphony/Student Symphony/Symphonic Winds/Jazz Ensemble Audition Information
Auditions for winds will be in Bernhard Rm. 30 on Sunday, September 11, from 12 noon on.
Sign up sheets for 10 minute slots will be available outside Bernhard Rm. 36 as of the last week of August, 2005.
Berkshire Symphony auditioners should obtain a copy of:
Hindemith: Mathis der Maler
Haydn: Symphony No. 78 (winds 1-2-0-2 2-0-0-0)
Copies will be available on the sign up table.
One should also prepare two contrasting movements or excerpts of his/her choosing … one technical, one lyrical. (Two contrasting movements from the same work fine.)
No scales, sight reading, requests to perform something by certain composers, etc.
Student wind players interested in Symphonic Winds only should audition on September 11. Sign up for a time. (No Berkshire Symphony required pieces, just two contrasting works.)
Student string players who wish to audition just for Student Symphony should audition on September 18. Sign up for a time. (No Berkshire Symphony required pieces, just two contrasting works.)
Jazz ensemble students sit in with returning students the evening before classes begin at 7 p.m. in Shainman Rehearsal Hall. Jazz info: AJaffe@williams.edu
