Abstract: In a packing by disks, spandrels are the interstitial areas between the disks. We will use spandrels to create new tilings in the Euclidean plane, the sphere and the hyperbolic plane. There will be lots of colorful pictures and ideas for creating your own tilings. This talk is available for colloquium credit.
