The Williams College Department of Music presents a screening of the documentary Aterue: Singers from Elsewhere. Singer Douglas Paisley, who is one of the performers in the film, will also be on hand for a Q&A. Working from a YouTube video, four New England singers reverse-engineer a Sardinian tradition of quartet throat-singing. When a video of their first performance goes viral in Sardinia, they set off on a quest to find the true heart of this deeply intimate, molecule-rearranging music.
The general public is welcome to events in the Bernhard Music Center! Members of the public should wear masks and show proof of full vaccination including a booster, if eligible. Williams students, faculty, and staff only need to show Williams IDs at the door.
