Random Graphs: The Erdos-Renyi Model by Stephanie Stacy '17

Statistics Colloquium

Abstract:  A network is a collection of points or nodes linked through associations or edges.  The Erdos-Renyi (ER) model generates graphs by randomly connecting nodes in a network.  This talk will provide a brief introduction to networks and random graphs through the lens of Erdos-Renyi as well as touch on some interesting properties of ER models including the distribution degree of vertices. In addition, simulated ER models will be compared and contrasted to a real world network.
