Raising Multilingual Children: Nature and Nurture

What parents can and can’t do to help their children learn one, two, or more languages. In this interactive talk, Barbara Zurer Pearson will share research findings and use a case-study approach to explore alternative strategies and solutions for real-life situations.

Her talk will be followed by a panel on childhood bilingualism/bilingual parenting with community members.

Barbara Zurer Pearson has been conducting research on bilingual child language for 30 years, first at the University of Miami and now as the Co-Director of the Language Acquisition Research Center at UMass-Amherst.  She collects stories and advice from parents all over the world who are raising multilingual children, and is author of Raising a Bilingual Child.
