Queering Perspectives Festival: BIGMOUTH STRIKES AGAIN
Fri, February 23rd, 2024
8:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Cabaret artist, writer, and performer Salty Brine weaves iconic, popular albums with major cultural touchstones from classic literature, history and beyond. In Bigmouth Strikes Again: The Smiths Show Salty ventures into the dark and disturbed, weaving Frankenstein and the historical context of Mary Shelley’s writing around The Smiths’ post-punk, indie classic The Queen is Dead. Witness a monster come to life in this dazzling expedition into the heart of popular music!
The Living Record Collection is a cabaret series created and performed by Salty Brine, that imagines track lists as blueprints for evenings of musical mayhem, taking incredible albums and twisting them in style and form until they are at once familiar and foreign, nostalgic and new.
The Queering Perspectives Festival interrogates conventional, culturally normative performance. We want to create a platform for the othered, experimental, and subversive, pushing the boundaries of their form in pursuit of new research and artistic production. QPF has the agenda of sparking new conversations about performance on campus. We want performance to be a springboard for conversation into sexualities, genders, bodies, races, ethnicities, abilities, and desires.
