Select indoor events are open to the public, including some performances, lectures and athletic competitions. Visitors without a Williams ID must show proof of vaccination for entry and masking is required for all. Guests are also welcome in outdoor spaces.

Prof. Catherine M. Appert – Class of 1960 Music Lecture
Williams College Department of Music presents a Class of 1960 Lecture presented by Catherine M. Appert, associate professor of ethnomusicology at Cornell University. She holds a PhD in ethnomusicology and a graduate credential in women’s studies from the University of California, Los Angeles. Her research focuses on popular music in Senegal, The Gambia, and West African immigrant communities in the United States
Her talk, titled Diaspora Flows, explores hip hop in Dakar, Senegal as a social practice of musical genre that works to remember and reinvent histories of diasporic connection, and to mobilize them in the pursuit of material change.
