On Weak Mixing Properties and Factors of Nonsingular Actions by Cesar Silva, Williams College, Friday September 22, 1:00 – 1:50pm, North Science Building 015, Wachenheim

Abstract: We will start with examples of nonsingular transformations and review the notion of factors of nonsingular transformations and actions. We will see that several dynamical properties can be characterized in terms of the existence, or non-existence, of certain factors. Then we will study the existence of various factors as they relate to properties similar to the notion of weak mixing for nonsingular transformations and actions.
