Contemporary mindfulness practices are largely based on Buddhist techniques, but are they actually Buddhist meditation? In this talk, we will explore the different modes of understanding, motivation, and goals and how they influence what we experience in meditation.
Khenpo David Karma Choephel is a translator and scholar based at Thrangu Monastery in Nepal. A native of Williamstown, he studied in a traditional monastic college in Nepal, becoming the first Westerner granted the degree of Khenpo in the Kagyu tradition. He has translated for several eminent Buddhist masters, and has published several translations, including Vivid Awareness by Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche.
