Of the Origin and Design of Eigenvalues in General, with Concise Remarks on the English Constitution by Prof. Steven Miller, Mathematics Colloquium, 1 – 1:45 pm, Stetson Court Classroom 101

Abstract:  July 3, 1776 + 243

Many events are, and of right ought to be, free and independent states; absolved from all connection to the previous events, and all connection between them and the Prior States is, and ought to be, totally dissolved; and that as free and independent probabilities, they have full power to do all acts and outcomes which independent probabilities may of right do. In this talk we explore consequences of Independence in modeling the behavior of Diverse States from Energy Levels of Heavy Nuclei to Eigenvalues of Matrix Ensembles to, if Time permits, Zeros of L-functions.
