Sidra Mahmood, Muslim Chaplain, and Alex Martone, Sustainability Coordinator, invite the Williams community & beyond to gather to have meaningful discussions on the intersection of the environment & faith or spirituality as we read Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer in preparation for Claiming Williams Day 2025. All are welcome regardless of faith or beliefs to learn, share, and grow. Meetings will be held once a week on Wednesdays, 4-5PM, from January 22nd – February 19th, in the Matt Cole Reading Room of the Class of ’66 Environmental Center.

  • February 5th: Epiphany in the Beans, The Teachings of Grass (optional: Picking Sweetgrass (p. 121-204))
  • February 12th: In the Footsteps of Nanbozho: Becoming Indigenous to Place (optional: Braiding Sweetgrass (p. 205-302))
  • February 19th: Windigo Footprints (optional: Burning Sweetgrass (p. 303. 374))
