Inspired by Shakespeare’s Tempest, Буря is a devised exploration of Russian immigrant memory, part-installation, part-movement, and part-everything-in-between. With a team of three actors, three designers, and three spaces, follow Miranda as she crosses from old to new land under her mother’s wings: what does intergenerational memory mean when only recalling whispers of the past? Is a person cleansed or reinvented by water? What do we do when love can move a person across continents, but is inextricable from sacrifice?
The Theatre Department has accepted Honors projects proposed by our majors that will be undertaken during their senior year. These projects are as varied and unique in their form, content, and methodology as the student artists who are leading their creation. They will be presented at the end of the semester, and we will share additional details as the projects develop.
Here is the program.
