Gluing Associated Prime Ideals of Small Height by Elizabeth Ostermeyer ’23, Mathematics Senior Thesis Defense, Monday, December 12, 1 – 1:45 pm, North Science Building 113, Wachenheim.
Abstract: Associated prime ideals are a well-studied subset of ideals, in part because the union of associated prime ideals of a ring is exactly that ring’s set of zero divisors. In this talk, we will ask what associated prime ideal structure can exist in the precompletion of a ring. I will present how, given a local ring B with completion T, one can “glue” together associated prime ideals of B to form a subring S with a new associated prime structure and the same completion T.
