Gambler's Ruin by Patrick Kane '17

Mathematics Colloquium

Abstract:  I will discuss and prove the famous gambler's ruin result that a gambler with finite wealth playing fair games against an opponent with infinite wealth will eventually go broke.  I will also discuss some variations of the problem and applications to other results in probability and statistics.
