DESCRIPTION:Fermat’s Last Theorem (with Polynomials) by Reuben Kaufman ’19\, Mathematics Colloquium\, Monday\, April 22\, 1-1:45 pm\, Stetson Court Classroom 101 \nAbstract: In 1994 Andrew Wiles surprised the world with his groundbreaking proof of Fermat’s last theorem. My talk will cover some of the problem’s long history and the many attempts to solve it. We’ll also see a complete exposition of a substantially easier theorem\, which emulates an earlier attempt by Lamé to prove Fermat’s Theorem. \n
