Ergodicity of Products With Inverses in Infinite Measure

Abstract:  The weak mixing property for finite measure preserving transformations has several interesting equivalent characterizations. In infinite measure, however, many of these equivalences break down. New counterexamples involving products with inverses were found by SMALL 2014. We will describe this work including some of the history that lead to it.
