Earthweek Address by Judith Enck, Former EPA Regional Administrator; President, Beyond Plastics Visiting Prof., Bennington College, “Moving Beyond Plastic: the Environmental Justice, Climate Change & Health Issue of our Time.” Sponsored by the Center for Environmental Studies.
There are enormous environmental and health implications associated with the production, the use and the disposal of plastics. It’s not just about the turtles (though we love sea turtles and they are important, too.) Enck will delve into how plastic production has become the fossil fuel industry’s “Plan B,” what plastic pollution is doing to rivers and oceans, health implications, the export of U.S. and EU plastic waste to Asia and Africa. And if you are so inclined – what you can do about this growing problem. Take a look at BeyondPlastics.org
