The Williams Concert Choir continues a proud choral tradition of performing masterworks. These two ensembles explore music from the medieval to the modern era and from throughout the world.
The Williams Concert Choir, directed by Lindsay S. Pope,Visiting Director of Choral/Vocal Activities, presents a performance titled This Love Between Us. Each work juxtaposes the Western classical style with another musical tradition. The program highlights composers who create cross-cultural conversation through their musical language and attempts to track how this conversation has developed over time. Featured works include Béla Bartók’s Four Slovak Folk Songs (Erin Kennedy ‘19, conductor; Ellery Galvin ‘18, pianist), Sarah Hopkin’s Past Life Melodies, Saro by Joshua Shank, Dominus Vobiscum by Sydney Guillaume, and Reena Esmail’s seven-movement oratorio This Love Between Us: Prayers for Unity, performed with orchestra and Veena Chandra, sitar; Devesh Chandra, tabla; Erin Nafziger, soprano; Megan Roth, mezzo-soprano; Joshua Gurwitz, tenor; and Tian Hui Ng, bass.
