This spring break, a group of 7 students went to Jackson, Mississippi, to learn from/with community-based grassroots social and environmental justice organizations there.

In the first week, our group learned about the long history of struggles for justice in Jackson by living with and visiting Black-led cooperative movements, farming and environmental/food justice initiatives, youth education projects, participatory democracy people’s assemblies, the state’s sole abortion clinic, and more.

We spent our second week at TKO Farms where we worked and learned about the challenges facing Black farming/land-based movements in Mississippi. Come hear what we learned and ask questions!
