Athlete Activism in the Age of Colin Kaepernick - Discussion

A discussion of the Spike Lee Lil' Joints documentary "2 Fists Up: We Gon' Be Alright" which chronicles the racial protests that engulfed the University of Missouri campus in fall 2015 and drew national attention after a resultant boycott by the Tigers’ football team.  The hourlong documentary, which will be shown at 2 pm in the Bronfman Auditorium,  dissects the story of entrenched racism on college campuses through the eyes of the Concerned Student 1950 group who led the protests in November 2015 that led to the ouster of University of Missouri System President Tim Wolfe and Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin.

This event will focus on how athletes have used their platform to spotlight injustices and have spoken out about race and social justice issues.

Sponsored by Athletics and Claiming Williams.  This discussion is intended for the campus community.
