Allison Freedman Weisberg has worked in Education at the Museum of Modern Art and Youth and Community Programs at the Whitney Museum. Her work uniting artists and audiences lead her to start Recess in 2009.

Recess is an artists’ workspace that is open to the public. Artists are given flexible storefront space and resources to realize ambitious projects, with the space remaining open to the public at every stage of the project’s development. Their program  goes beyond the traditional museum or residency structure to facilitate interactions between artists and audiences throughout the creative process

A partnership between Recess and Brooklyn Justice Initiatives, Assembly offers young adults involved with the criminal justice system an alternative to punitive measures. After participants complete a visual storytelling and performance workshop, prosecutors may close and seal their cases.

Allison will be speaking about her work and career.
