Announcing the next Director of Campus Safety Services

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,

I am very pleased to announce that Jeff Palmer will become Director of Campus Safety Services, effective July 17, 2024, after a national search. 

Jeff most recently served as Associate Director for Campus Safety at the College of St. Rose in Albany, NY, where he worked for more than fifteen years. His experiences include designing and executing outreach events with students, collaborating on the creation of an emergency management team and emergency operations plans, working with the school’s DEI task force on inclusion training, and leading their institutional Clery committee. 

At Williams, Jeff will oversee a strong and deep team involved in every aspect of campus safety and related areas of student and campus engagement. He will be a wonderful and creative addition to this team. Please join me in welcoming him to our team and community!

I am very grateful to the search committee, whose members are listed below, to the many colleagues and students who took the time to meet the finalists and to our partners from the Spelman Johnson search firm for their shared commitment to a thorough process by which we recruited, evaluated and interviewed a great group of candidates. 

Thank you also to the entire Campus Safety Services team, who do so much every day to keep our campus community safe and supported, to Associate Directors Theresa Ryan and Amalio Jusino for their consistent and creative leadership, and especially to Alison Warner, who has served as Interim Director with expertise, poise and perseverance. I am very grateful for all that they and their fellow professionals have accomplished during a period of transition, without losing sight of their core mission and the wellbeing of our people.
