Join us for an afternoon with Anne Margaret Daniel for a discussion of the The new Norton Library edition of The Great Gatsby. Based upon Scribner’s first edition, first printing of one of the most widely read American novels of all time. It incorporates the specific changes made during F. Scott Fitzgerald’s lifetime—not only the corrections made in the second printing of the novel, but those Fitzgerald himself made in his own annotated copy of the first edition, during and after May 1925. Editor Anne Margaret Daniel also consulted the Modern Library edition of 1934, for which Fitzgerald wrote an introduction; Fitzgerald’s working galley proofs of Gatsby; and the surviving handwritten portions of different drafts of the manuscript, housed in the F. Scott Fitzgerald Papers at Princeton University.

Anne Margaret Daniel teaches literature at the New School University in New York City. She writes widely about books and music for many publications, and is the editor of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s last previously unpublished short stories, I’d Die for You and Other Short Stories (Scribner 2017).
