If you’ve worked with me before, you know I like big projects. Earlier this fall, a friend showed me this big huge piece of music, and I’ve been obsessed with it since: Confessions, Pt. III by BADBADNOTGOOD (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfEmah0iJfo).

It’s many things at once. It’s simultaneously beautiful and hard to listen to. It’s unrelenting, feverish. It’s cool. It’s alternately broody and soaring. I’m excited to explore all the things this piece is.

There will be no central concept or theme to this piece. It will be just what this song demands: namely one huge exercise in musicality, in layering, in groove, in build, and in tension/release.

I’m primarily a contemporary/modern dancer, so that’ll generally be the style of this piece. It will likely be most appropriate for intermediate to advanced contemporary dancers. That said, you should still consider auditioning for this if contemporary isn’t your primary style. I love working with dancers of different backgrounds (gets me out of my choreographic comfort zone and forces innovation). Also, I care a lot about dancers picking up the quality/texture of movement that I’m going for—so if you’re a solid mimic of movement quality, that honestly might be more important to me than perfect technique.

Ideally, I see 6 dancers for this piece. I’d like to be in it, so I’m seeking 5 more dancers. Unfortunately, I’m only looking for dancers who’ll be around in the spring.
