Mathematics Colloquium

Abstract:  Many of us have encountered, at some point in our lives, the game of dots-and-boxes.  Like in many other games, there exist mathematical insights that, when mastered, present winning strategies. In this talk we will define the game of dots-and-boxes and present some elementary strategies.  To advance to a higher level of understanding we will look at dual games and counting strategies that help you beat more competent opponents.
