- This event has passed.
The ’62 Center will present Nicolas Noreña as one of our 24/25 visiting artists. While the performances are not until April 2025, he will be on campus Sept 30-Oct 4. He is looking for a “greek chorus” of students and community member actors. Below, you can see a description of the opportunity.
For more information, please email Randal Fippinger.
We are looking for a chorus to work with for a few days in the Fall (Sept 30-Oct 4) and two weeks in the Spring (March 31-April 12) and perform in the work-in-progress showing of SECONDS at Williams on April 10,11,12. Ideally, the chorus would be composed of 5-12 people.
We would love for this chorus to be a mix of community members and students of any age and background; the more diverse, the better, with no age or movement restrictions. We want to meet some of these people in the Fall to get a sense of who we will be working with, and begin planting the seeds for the work in the spring. The piece looks at death, the processes, rituals, fears, fantasies, and imaginaries that exist in our communities. The idea is to workshop this material we call “collective unbecoming” with a group of locals, have open conversations about things we know and don’t know about death, ideas we have inherited, ideas we have accumulated, and ideas we have formed about death, encouraging difference and respect for each other. From this exchange, we would begin to construct abstract new rituals, dances, and songs, which will be developed theatrically and intertwined with the arch of the performance.
For the first week in the Fall, we expect to have 2-3 3-hour sessions with anyone interested and able to attend.
